(Senoia, GA – September 16, 2018)  It has been a long road since the beginning of the Senoia Raceway points season back in April.  For some drivers, the road has been a treacherous journey filled with crashes, engine problems and missed opportunities.  For others, it has been a dream season that culminated Saturday night with putting their names in the track’s record books by achieving a season points championship.

“A lot of people do not understand the dedication, skill and luck that it takes to win a championship,” explained track promoter Mayes Massey.  “And the help you need from family and friends, the sacrifice it takes from those closest to you and many times additional funds that were not budgeted when the season started this past spring.  It is pretty awesome to win a title and these guys deserve all the accolades they will receive.”

Wild, Wide Open & Wicked Fast Winged Outlaw Sprint Cars Invade Senoia Raceway On Saturday Night

Atlanta, GA – September 7, 2018 - The United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars make their only 2018 visit to Senoia Raceway this Saturday, September 8th. The USCS Senoia Summer Nationals IX will feature 120 mile per hour USCS Winged Outlaw type sprint cars taking on the tricky 3/8-mile gumbo clay oval. The racing schedule also includes the USCS 600 Mini Sprint Series, Limited Late Models, Crate Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby, Bomber, Mini and Hot Shot racing action.

The track has also scheduled a first time appearance by North Carolina's Jeremy Mayfield.  The former NASCAR Cup Series stand-out will be racing in the Late Model Sportsman division this Saturday.  After being ousted from NASCAR competition for an apparent drug test violation, Mayfield endured a lengthy court battle with the huge sanctioning body fighting for his innocence.  He continues to compete at short tracks in the Carolinas and Georgia and will make his first-ever start this weekend at Senoia Raceway.

Bright Wins Eighth Straight At Senoia Raceway

Submitted by Ted Austad

(Senoia, GA – July 29, 2018)  Dorough Bright has been unstoppable since April in the Bomber division at Senoia Raceway.  The 60-year-old Newnan businessman won his career best eighth straight feature on Saturday night after turning down an offer by track promoter Mayes Massey to start in the back.  Massey offered Bright twice the winner’s purse if he would start in the back and win the race.  Bright turned down the opportunity and led flag to flag starting on the pole.

“The fans wanted to see him start in the back,” said Massey. “But, the money did not entice him more than the winning streak.  He has been tough to beat this season.”

A few other repeat winners carried the checkers on Saturday night including Alabama teenager Cruz Skinner.  The 17-year-old hot shoe won the Crate Late Model feature notching his fourth win of the year at the tough Bull Ring.  Macon’s Cory Compton returned to the winner’s circle for the second straight week in the Late Model Sportsman as did Hampton’s Mark Newton in the Mini Stock.  Powder Springs Keith West continued his winning ways nabbing his seventh win this season in the Hobby.  Two new faces in victory lane included Tyrone’s Jody Knowles in the Limited Late Models and Trey Chapman in the Hot Shots.  McDonough’s Ted Minnix won the Charger feature.

(Senoia, GA – July 22, 2018)  The sports quote “It ain’t over til it’s over” rang true on Saturday night at the South’s Baddest Bull Ring, Senoia Raceway.  The 3/8ths mile gumbo clay track had a pair of races that were not decided until the final turn of the final lap with two cars that were running in third place when the white flag flew indicating one lap remaining actually crossed the finish line in first.  Hampton’s Mark Newton watched the lead cars spin each other before sneaking past for the victory in the Mini Stock while Winston’s Mark Page used a one lap dash restart to snag his first career Senoia Raceway win in the Limited Late Model main event.

2018 Borderline Brawl Title Sponsor Announced

(Photo from Mark Whitener Motorsports Facebook page.)

By now, most of you know about the 2018 Borderline Brawl that is going to be held on August 11th at the All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Florida. People have started getting excited. The Enduro/Thunderstock class has always been one of the classes at the heart of racing. The working class, if you will. These guys work their butts off day in and day out to provide for their families and then maybe have a little left over to go out and enjoy the sport they love on the weekends. The Borderline Brawl is Deep Dixie Racing’s attempt to recognize those drivers, their family, their crew members and their fans on one special weekend during the year,  Our goal is to make the 2018 Borderline Brawl one to remember and to set a standard for future Borderline Brawl events.

Activities are being planned for all ages. Friday night after practice we are planning on having a band to provide entertainment. Saturday, before the race, activities such as face painting for the kids, a dunking booth, possibly a cornhole tournament and much more are being looked at.

Prizes for all drivers who gain entry into the main event are being sought as well as other incentives.

After sharing some of these thoughts about making the Borderline Brawl special with folks this past weekend down at Volusia Speedway Park’s Powell Memorial, you wouldn’t believe the response that was received from those connected to the racing community. Lots of prizes and gifts have already been promised.

Really coming through for Deep Dixie Racing and the 2018 Borderline Brawl was Mark Whitener Motorsports. Because of their love and respect for this class of racing, Mark and Bridgette Whitener have committed to being the title sponsor for this year’s event. For that, we at Deep Dixie Racing are grateful.

Make plans now to attend the 2018 Borderline Brawl presented by Mark Whitener Motorsports.

Additional opportunities exist for other sponsorships and prizes. All sponsors will be recognized in a commemorative racing program as well as in posts and videos. If you want to come on board and contribute, please contact Leo Johnson, Dale Hall, or Joe Kelly. Their contact information is listed below.

2018 Borderline Brawl Set For August 11th At All-Tech Raceway

Many of you know by now about the Borderline Brawl which was announced last week. This event is scheduled to be run at All-Tech Raceway on August 11th in Lake City, Florida. What you may not know about is the amount of interest that it is generating.

It has been one week to the day that this event was announced. Below is the post where the Borderline Brawl was announced:

As you can see them mentioned above, several people immediately came on board to begin helping get the word out. And get the word out they did. Eric James, Sean Casey and Allen Haire went to work sharing information about the Brawl to all their friends and acquaintances especially the ones at Racing Trash Talk, their private Facebook group. (Warning: Racing Trash Talk is not for the feint of heart or cupcakes.)

By Thursday, Leo Johnson was able to present a payout for the Enduro/Thunderstock race at the Borderline Brawl.

(Senoia, GA – June 10, 2018)  Zach Leonhardi of Cartersville dominated the thirty-lap main event for the Super Late Models at Senoia Raceway Saturday night.  The seventeen-year-old just obtained his license to drive legally on the streets of Georgia this past week, but he showed everyone he has known how to drive a racecar for a long time beating the three-time defending champion Clint ‘Cat Daddy’ Smith by over four seconds.  It was the young guns first career victory behind the wheel of a Super Late Model and first time back into victory lane at Senoia Raceway since he raced legends cars a few years back.

“It feels to great to get our first win,” said Zach afterwards. “What a car.”

Joining Leonhardi in victory lane during Saturday night’s important double points event were Hamilton’s Thomas Lewis in the Limited Late Models, Alabama’s Todd Morrow in the Crate Late Models and Macon’s Cory Compton in the Late Model Sportsman.  The Hobby winner was Keith West of Powder Springs while Newnan’s Dorough Bright and Tommy Faulkner won again in the Bombers and Mini respectively.  Alabama’s Dean Williams topped the Hot Shots class and Franklin’s Tanner Collins won for the third time in the beginner Chargers division.

Thomas, Johnson & Jones Claim Summer Sizzler Cash At Bull Ring

(Senoia, GA – June 3, 2018)  It was a rough road to victory lane on Saturday night as Senoia Raceway hosted the Summer Sizzler 2018.  Excessive rains for the past week, including showers during the morning and afternoon, resulted in a wet, soggy and rough surface for the drivers to compete upon.  But those that maneuvered their cars through the tough spots and kept their foot on the floor while also staying focused on the checkered flag, were the ones who came home victorious.

Alabama’s Jimmy Thomas topped the stellar field of forty-three entries for the Late Model Sportsman while Tennessee’s Ronnie Johnson collected the win for the Limited Late Models.  LaGrange’s Dusty Jones smoked the field in the Crate Late Models finally pulling the monkey of his back with a feature win.
