(Senoia, GA – April 22, 2018) Woodrow Mullis of Pearson dominated the Crate Late Model feature securing his first ever victory at Senoia Raceway on Saturday evening. Mullis was one of six drivers that won their first career feature at the ‘South’s Baddest Bull Ring’ Senoia Raceway. Locust Grove’s Jamie Nicholson, Sr. picked up career win number one in the Mini Stock division while fourteen-year-old McKenna Nelms also won her first main event topping the field of Griffin Hose & Hydraulics Charger competitors. Mableton’s Keith West, Winston’s Austin Hill and Alabama’s TJ Sanders joined the new winners after their features as well.
“If you win at Senoia Raceway, you have really accomplished something,” said promoter Mayes Massey. “It is not easy to beat the veteran competition on this tough, slick surface gumbo clay. These drivers stepped up their game tonight and joined an elite group of winners.”

McDowell And Bloomquist Nab Spring Nationals Checkers At Senoia Raceway

(April 2, 2018) Dale McDowell of Chickamauga raced to a $10,000 victory in the 60-lap feature on Saturday night that closed out the Senoia Raceway Spring Nationals presented by Textron Off-Road. McDowell held off a number of challenges from Friday night’s victor Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN through the final half of the race. The veterans pocketed the lion’s share of the near record purse offered by promoters Mayes Massey, Bill Massey and Doug Stevens.
“After that lengthy caution, the top of the track went away,” said McDowell afterwards. “They were going to have to beat us by trying the high side.”
Starting from the outside of the front row next to local favorite Clint Smith of Senoia in the Spring Nationals Saturday night super late model event, McDowell took the lead from the drop of the opening green flag and led every circuit. He claimed the honors over ninth-starting Scott Bloomquist, who closely trailed the race winner across the line on a track that dramatically narrowed near the middle stages. The changing track conditions halted the supremely entertaining, multiple-grooved competition that had spiced the earlier stages of the event and left the low groove as the fastest way around at the 3/8-mile oval.

Being a race fan myself, I really enjoy it when I see others who appreciate this great sport. On Friday night, I had the privilege to record an interview that Joe Kelly did with race fan Brenda Reaves. She seemed very content and happy to be at Waycross Motor Speedway that night, indicating that it was fun and relaxing for her. She came back Saturday night for the feature races as well. Little did anyone know that it would be her last trip there as she has since passed away. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. Hopefully, it is comforting to most that she got to enjoy good times watching and doing something with many of those family and friends in her final hours. You can see the obituary and sign the guestbook by clicking the photo below. Godspeed Brenda Reaves. May our Heavenly Father provide peace and comfort to those who knew and loved her.

I got to read Ted Austad's article about about three separate drivers getting their first victories at Senoia Raceway this past Saturday night. Ted did his usual outstanding job of recapping the action. Those first time winners were Bailey Williams, Shannon Stevens and Steven Partin. Read Ted's article by clicking here.
Looking ahead to this coming weekend, several tracks we cover will be getting their seasons underway, one of those will be Cochran Motor Speedway. Chris Martin and his staff will be hosting the Nesmith Touring Series Friday night and Saturday night. Those guys will be running for $2000 to win Friday and $4000 to win on Saturday.

I want to remind everyone that our goal at the Deep Dixie Racing Network is to help promote stock car racing in general. Since our inception, we have made a point to only provide positive coverage for the tracks and series. By and large, most of the coverage we provide is at our own expense. Therefore, we tend to provide more attention to those who have supported us in the past or are in our close proximity. See how that works? Leo and myself have made a lot of friends in the racing community and we try to be loyal to those friends. No question, we may have offended a few in the past too. The thing is, you have never seen us publicly disparage or run down those people who might have an agenda against us in a public forum. I really try to adhere to what the Good Lord teaches us.
Leo Johnson and myself are looking forward to the 2018 racing season and working with the tracks and series who want to and are willing to partner with us in promoting racing. Also, with Joe Kelly heading up the DDRN Racing Outreach program, we are excited for the opportunities which may be presented there as well. If you or anyone you know may be interested in working with us by the way of sponsoring or supporting one of our causes, our contact information is listed in the upper left side of our main page. We look forward to hearing from y'all.

(Senoia, GA – March 18, 2018) Fayetteville teenager Bailey Williams outdueled Newnan’s Oliver Gentry and Alabama’s Cruz Skinner to claim his first career victory at Senoia Raceway on Saturday night. The grandson of Georgia Auto Racing Hall of Famer, Ricky Williams, Bailey led every single lap on his way to victory lane, but had to survive a pair of late race restarts to secure the win.

Skinner & Smith Double Up For Thriller Wins At Senoia Raceway

(Senoia, GA – March 11, 2018) On a night that the forecasters called for rain, rain and more rain, Senoia Raceway braved the forecasts and dropped the green on the annual Thousand Dollar Thriller. Alabama’s Cruz Skinner and Senoia’s Clint ‘Cat Daddy’ Smith both were happy the track decided against listening to the weatherman as the dynamic duo claimed their second wins of the season each in the Limited Late Model and Crate Late Model divisions. Each of them pocketed the one thousand dollar winner’s purse for their efforts.
“We will not call a race just because the forecast is bleak,” said promoter Mayes Massey. “We watch the radar and determine which way the weather is moving and if we feel we have a good chance to get everything rolling and race, we are going to try. We will never call a race before it rains at the track. Our drivers and our fans can count on that from us. We love to race.”
