For What It's Worth, My 2 Cents 3/19/2018

By Dale Hall
Congratulations go out to Waycross Motor Speedway from Deep Dixie Racing on a great opening night. The stands were packed with fans and after speaking with the many drivers who showed up, they greatly appreciated it. Michelle Carter Stone, Keith Ambrose and the rest of the staff are to be commended for their efforts. Thank all of you for what you are doing for racing. Looking at their schedule in conjunction with Golden Isles Speedway for the rest of the year, race fans have a lot of quality racing to look forward to.

Being a race fan myself, I really enjoy it when I see others who appreciate this great sport. On Friday night, I had the privilege to record an interview that Joe Kelly did with race fan Brenda Reaves. She seemed very content and happy to be at Waycross Motor Speedway that night, indicating that it was fun and relaxing for her. She came back Saturday night for the feature races as well. Little did anyone know that it would be her last trip there as she has since passed away. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. Hopefully, it is comforting to most that she got to enjoy good times watching and doing something with many of those family and friends in her final hours. You can see the obituary and sign the guestbook by clicking the photo below. Godspeed Brenda Reaves. May our Heavenly Father provide peace and comfort to those who knew and loved her.

I got to read Ted Austad's article about about three separate drivers getting their first victories at Senoia Raceway this past Saturday night. Ted did his usual outstanding job of recapping the action. Those first time winners were Bailey Williams, Shannon Stevens and Steven Partin. Read Ted's article by clicking here.

Looking ahead to this coming weekend, several tracks we cover will be getting their seasons underway, one of those will be Cochran Motor Speedway. Chris Martin and his staff will be hosting the Nesmith Touring Series Friday night and Saturday night. Those guys will be running for $2000 to win Friday and $4000 to win on Saturday.

I want to remind everyone that our goal at the Deep Dixie Racing Network is to help promote stock car racing in general. Since our inception, we have made a point to only provide positive coverage for the tracks and series. By and large, most of the coverage we provide is at our own expense. Therefore, we tend to provide more attention to those who have supported us in the past or are in our close proximity. See how that works? Leo and myself have made a lot of friends in the racing community and we try to be loyal to those friends. No question, we may have offended a few in the past too. The thing is, you have never seen us publicly disparage or run down those people who might have an agenda against us in a public forum. I really try to adhere to what the Good Lord teaches us.

Leo Johnson and myself are looking forward to the 2018 racing season and working with the tracks and series who want to and are willing to partner with us in promoting racing. Also, with Joe Kelly heading up the DDRN Racing Outreach program, we are excited for the opportunities which may be presented there as well. If you or anyone you know may be interested in working with us by the way of sponsoring or supporting one of our causes, our contact information is listed in the upper left side of our main page. We look forward to hearing from y'all.
